The IKEA DUNDRA children's table: we tested it

We tested the play table from Sweden and summarised our experiences and all the information about the DUNDRA children's table for you.

First impressions

When we bought it, we quickly noticed that the packages were considerably heavier than many other pieces of furniture from IKEA – but that usually speaks for the stability of the furniture. However, assembly is quite simple. We did have a brief hiccup with the drawer because we weren't familiar with the plug-in system, but once we took another close look at the instructions, our mistake was quickly rectified. What immediately caught our eye was the similarity to the popular play table classic from BRIO.

Comparison with the BRIO play table

The new IKEA play table is very reminiscent of the popular classic children's table from BRIO. The BRIO table is slightly lower and the playing surface is a few centimetres wider than the play table from IKEA. However, the latter has a drawer that offers plenty of space for toys, making organisation easier. In addition, the playing surface from Sweden comes in a simple grey colour, so it can either be left as it is or jazzed up with different decals depending on the child's interests. With the BRIO table, you can only buy table tops that already contain a play world. The biggest difference is in the price. The play table from Sweden is considerably cheaper than the well-known classic.

IKEA DUNDRA features

The DUNDRA table is specially designed for playing. Its large surface area gives children plenty of space to let off steam. The slightly raised edge prevents building blocks and other items from falling off. After playing, toys, Lego or craft materials can be stored in the large drawer. This is divided into two compartments to make organisation easier.
The table looks good from all sides, so it can be placed anywhere in the room. IKEA emphasises that the design and materials have been optimised to make the furniture ideal for public spaces such as restaurants, waiting rooms and similar locations. The surface of the IKEA DUNDRA is made of durable laminate. When assembling it, we also noticed how sturdy and high-quality the table is.
