Finding the right design theme

When furnishing your girls’ bedroom, we recommend designing the room around a theme that your children particularly like.

Children usually make their wishes very clear, which is why you should always involve your little ones when designing their bedroom. Not only is this fun, but it also fosters a sense of togetherness and support. What’s more, it allows your little ones to form a personal connection with the space they’ve helped to create.

Popular motifs and themes include, for example, ‘ WELTRAUM’, horses or forest animals

Girls’ bedrooms: Finding
the right colour

When it comes to choosing the right colour for a girl’s bedroom, many people think of shades of pink. In fact, there’s little to say against painting or decorating the room in this colour. Pink can have a calming and relaxing effect, whilst also boosting concentration and aiding learning. Shades of pink combine well with lighter colours such as white, mint or beige, creating a harmonious look in the children’s room.

However, colours other than pink are also welcome. Blue, red and yellow are equally popular shades that fit perfectly into your girls’ bedroom. A colourful and vibrant bedroom looks lovely and can even help to boost your children’s creativity! Just as with decorating a girls’ bedroom, there’s of course no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ here. Which colour is particularly suitable for the children’s room depends on your little ones’ favourite colours. It’s best to let them have a say in choosing the colour scheme for their room.

Furnishing the room: Furniture for a girl’s bedroom

Choosing the right furniture depends on various factors, such as your girls’ ages, their interests, the space available and, of course, your budget. However, there are other important aspects to consider when furnishing the room.

Furniture in the children’s bedroom: Safety

A child’s bedroom is the best playground there is. To ensure your children can play, dance and do gymnastics to their heart’s content, it’s important to bear a few things in mind so that the fun doesn’t end in tears.

  • Whether they’re taking their first steps or practising their first handstand, everything in the room will be used as a piece of gym equipment at some point. That’s why it’s important to choose furniture and fittings that are safe and stable, and ideally have no sharp edges, so your girls can let off steam in the room without any worries
  • As children are very curious and always want to try everything out, it’s all the more important to fit all sockets in the children’s room or playroom with socket covers, so that your little explorers don’t come into contact with electricity
  • If your girls are still very young, it’s advisable to secure the windows in the children’s room so that the little ones don’t try to climb on them or open them
  • Unfortunately, children’s toys and furniture often contain materials that can be harmful to children’s health. You should therefore find out in advance about any potential harmful substances. The adhesive films from LIMMALAND are all CE-certified in accordance with EU standards and are child-safe.

Wall decals for girls

A child’s bedroom is a place for children to play, learn, relax and feel at home. To create a pleasant atmosphere, small touches such as colours, wall decals or decorative elements are often all it takes to make the room feel lively and creative. Compared to painting, wall design using wall stickers is much easier and quicker to do.

The designs can be applied with minimal effort and, if necessary, removed later without leaving any residue – ideal when the child’s bedroom changes over the years. Wall decals bring playful designs and subtle colour accents to the wall without overloading the room.

Tip : Wall decals look particularly lovely when combined with coloured walls or individual feature walls.

Space to play in the children’s bedroom

Alongside all the essential items a girl’s bedroom needs, such as a desk, chair and bed, there’s one thing that mustn’t be overlooked: plenty of space to let off steam.

To ensure your little ones don’t bump into anything or hurt themselves whilst dancing, doing gymnastics or dressing up, it’s important to have plenty of free space in the bedroom. The best way to achieve this is to lay a lovely, large rug on the floor. Not only does this look nicer, but it also prevents slipping and makes playing on the floor more comfortable.

An open space in the room can also stimulate your children’s creativity and encourage their independence, as they’re free to move about and organise their own space in their girls’ bedroom. From an organisational point of view, too, it makes sense to keep some space free for new furniture or fittings for the girls’ bedroom, which will become necessary as they get older (e.g. guitar stands, bookshelves, etc.).
