Making a car park from an IKEA KNAGGLIG box

We at Limmaland are big fans of upcycling and DIY. And that's why we've prepared another very simple yet ingenious craft idea for you: We want to make a car park with you! An IKEA hack, of course - made from the versatile KNAGGLIG box. Let's go!

IKEA box becomes a DIY car park

The many toy cars are very popular with children. But when the little racing machines are scattered all over the floor in the children's room, they can really get on our nerves! That's why we've got a great idea for you at : we're making a car park - it's both organisation and fun at the same time!

What you need to make a car park

You don't need much for the DIY garage for toy cars. And you probably already have all the materials lying around at home.

  • an IKEA KNAGGLIG* box made of wood (alternatively, a shoe box will also work)
  • Cardboard & pencil for a car park sign
  • lots of cardboard rolls - from toilet paper or kitchen roll

How to make a car park for children

Cut out your car park sign and stick it to your IKEA box or to your shoe box. And now it's time for your cardboard rolls: You can easily shorten the long rolls of kitchen paper with scissors or a cutter knife. Then simply place the rolls in your wooden or cardboard box until it is completely filled with paper rolls. And all the toy cars can be neatly parked!

Sturdy car park for little rascals

For a long-lasting version of the car park for small toy cars, you can simply copy Bianca 's idea. She has used PVC pipes instead of cardboard rolls! You can buy these at DIY stores or order the PVC pipes online*.

The PVC rolls are so sturdy that the DIY car park has been used by her toddler for a whole two years! You can simply shorten the pipes with a handsaw or a cutter knife. Then simply put it in your box and you're ready to play!

Making accessories for the multi-storey car park

You can support the game with the DIY car park even better - with another upcycling idea! Because with our furniture foils, you can transform tables and shelves in the children's room into a street for all the many toy cars.
