Making a gingerbread man - cute decoration for the Christmas season

Find out how you can create a gingerbread-shaped paper tag in just a few steps using our free craft template.

Gingerbread man made of paper

Gingerbread men, who doesn't know them? At Christmas time, you come across these cute little guys in all shapes and sizes. You probably know them in the form of biscuits. But did you know that you can also easily turn them into great, decorative paper tags? 🤔

You can hang the gingerbread-shaped paper tags above the changing table, on the bedroom door or on the Christmas tree. They are also ideal as gift tags or Christmas presents for young and old.

We will now show you step by step how to make a cute gingerbread man out of paper.

Let's get started!

What you need to make the gingerbread man

  • Our free paper gingerbread man craft template
  • Scissors, hole punch & adhesive tape
  • 5x pattern clips
  • thin thread

Step 1: Print & cut out

Download the craft template and print it out in colour. You can find the craft template for free download below.

Now cut out the 12 prefabricated body parts of the gingerbread man along the outline.

Step 2: Punching holes & assembling

Then punch out the pre-drawn circles with a hole punch and join the cut-out body parts of the gingerbread man together. Attach the arms, legs and head using pattern clips. Make sure that the staples are loose so that the limbs can move easily afterwards.

Step 3: Decorating & gluing

Now it's time to decorate your paper gingerbread man. To do this, glue the previously cut out bow tie, Christmas hat, buttons and candy cane in the appropriate places. You can use the template, on which you will find a picture of the finished gingerbread man, as a guide.

Step 4: Punch holes & hang up

So that you can hang up the gingerbread man later, attach a thread to the back side of the gingerbread man - approx. at the height of the centre of the head. Make a loop for this and then stick it to the back of the gingerbread man's head with adhesive tape.

And your paper gingerbread man is ready to go!

We wish you lots of fun making your own and a wonderful pre-Christmas season!🎄🎅🏼
