Our IKEA hack: if you turn the TROFAST shelf upside down, you get a sensory tray on top that you can fill with shells, stones or dried pulses. The frame that the TROFAST shelf normally stands on prevents anything from rolling off. And the handy thing is that the TROFAST boxes also fit perfectly into the frame.

To do this, you’ll need the TROFAST base unit measuring 99x44x94 cm. The shelving unit consists of 3 sections of different heights, which are perfect for creating a staircase. This allows you to easily jazz up the IKEA KURA loft bed, whilst the boxes provide extra storage space for the children’s bedroom.
15. Making the most of it: storage space with the TROFAST bed
You can never have enough storage space! Especially in a small children’s bedroom, the space under the bed is put to good use.

16. Hanging the TROFAST on the wall
If you hang the children’s shelving unit on the wall, you’ll be making double use of the space. You should, however, make sure you use really thick wall plugs and that the TROFAST is properly secure.
The downside of wall mounting: the kids can no longer reach the ‘ drawer’ themselves.
