Build your own doll's wardrobe from an IKEA box

Clothes make the man - and dolls too, of course! And to keep all those smart outfits neat and crease-free, we've prepared another very simple yet ingenious IKEA hack for you today: We want to build a doll's wardrobe ourselves. It's really easy with the KNAGGLIG box from our favourite Swede. So, let's get started!

What you need to build your own doll's wardrobe

  • an IKEA KNAGGLIG* box
  • a wooden board measuring 45 x 30 cm
  • a piece of Limmaland decal of your choice
  • two simple furniture hinges
  • a handle
  • a round wooden bar with a length of 29 cm
  • a cordless screwdriver
  • Screws
  • possibly some wood glue

Have you got everything together? Then let's get started and build a wardrobe for your favourite doll!

Step 1: Assemble the wooden box

Firstly, you grab the KNAGGLIG box and assemble it. This is really quick - just follow the instructions provided by IKEA. Then nothing can go wrong.

Step 2: Embellish the cupboard door

Now it's time to continue with the decal from Limmaland. What is your favourite film? You can find all the colours and patterns here: yard goods. Cut the furniture film of your choice to the size of the wooden board . Then apply the film to the cupboard door. Is everything in place? Then grab the cordless screwdriver and drill a hole for the door handle in the board. And then insert the knob . Looks great already, doesn't it?

Step 3: Attach the door to the doll's wardrobe

We continue directly : Using the two furniture hinges, you now attach the embellished cupboard door to the KNAGGLIG box. Use the cordless screwdriver to tighten the screws in no time at all.

Step 4: Insert the clothes rail

Although our wardrobe for dolls looks great from the outside, is still missing a small but essential detail: the clothes rail! To do this, use the round wooden rod that you bought from the DIY store. Now clamp it into the IKEA wooden box - just like in a real wardrobe. If you want to be on the safe side , you can dab the ends of the stick with a little wood glue . Then leave to dry and everything will be firmly in place. That's it! It's that easy to build your own doll's wardrobe! Now all you have to do is furnish your new piece of furniture. You can buy small clothes hangers for the doll's wardrobe for little money in numerous online shops. And then you can store all the colourful doll's clothes in the wardrobe.

Doll's wardrobe and changing unit

@froileinpuenktchen has added a changing unit to the doll's wardrobe. She simply screwed a wooden board onto the KNAGGLIG box. We think it's a great idea!
