DIY Cloud Dough – Easy Recipe for Kids
Make your own cloud modelling clay - the simple DIY recipe
Kids love to knead, mould and be creative. With homemade cloud dough - also known as cloud slime or cloud dough - you can create a sensory play material in no time at all that is not only fun, but also encourages creativity. The fluffy modelling clay consists of just two simple ingredients, is quick to make and can be wonderfully integrated into a wide variety of play ideas. Whether as an ice cream substitute in the DIY ice cream parlour, for baking fantasy cakes or as a sensory material in the sensory table - cloud modelling clay is a real all-rounder for little explorers. We'll show you how to make the fluffy cloud modelling clay yourself in no time at all - and give you lots of creative play ideas to keep your kids imaginatively occupied.

What is cloud modelling clay?
Cloud modelling clay is an airy, smooth mass with a unique texture - somewhere between modelling clay and mousse. It feels soft, cool and powdery and is easy to mould with spoons, moulds or your hands. Whether it's tartlets, small animals or ice-cream scoops - there are no limits to your imagination. Kneading also trains fine motor skills - ideal as a relaxing activity between meals.
Make your own cloud modelling clay
What you need:
- Cornflour
- Hair rinse or conditioner
- Food colouring (optional)
- Bowl for mixing

Here's how:
- Take a small bowl or a small cup as a measure. In a bowl, mix three parts cornflour with one part rinse. This ratio is a good basis for the perfect consistency.
- If you want to make colourful ice cream flavours, you can now add a few drops of food colouring. Dough without colour remains nice and cloudy white - that also looks great!
- Mix everything with a spoon first. This ensures that the colour is evenly distributed throughout the mixture and the ingredients combine a little.
- Now comes the best part: get your hands into the bowl! Knead everything thoroughly - this way you can also feel whether the consistency is right. Is the dough still too crumbly? Then carefully add some conditioner. Is it too mushy? Then a spoonful of cornflour will help.
