A decade in Limmaland
We can hardly believe it ourselves, but Limmaland is 10 years old! An exciting journey that began with a small idea and has now made us a permanent fixture in the field of creative design ideas for IKEA furniture. We have prepared some great surprises for you to celebrate our big anniversary. Because without you, our journey would not have been possible! A look back at the highlights
We have reached many milestones in the last 10 years. From our first designs to the Wichtelwelt - we have constantly realised new ideas and expanded our range. We are particularly proud of our many satisfied customers, who continue to inspire and motivate us. Take a look back with us at 10 years of Limmaland!
Start in August 2014
Our story began with the desire to transform everyday furniture into something special. And so the two Limmaland founders Rabea & Steffi were able to announce in August 2014: WE ARE LIVE! The online shop launched with around 25 foil products and the idea of transforming IKEA basics for children into special eye-catchers with wall and furniture foils. The street film for the IKEA LACK side table and the cloud stickers for the IKEA picture rails quickly become customer favourites. And requests fluttered into our mailbox asking us to make foils for other IKEA models such as TROFAST and KALLAX very quickly.
Even skyscrapers started out as basements
In the first winter, we also present and sell our products at small design fairs. It's great to get lots of feedback and product requests in direct dialogue with visitors and children.

"Limma" means "glue" in Swedish. This is the origin of our name.
Kitchen love since 2015
in 2015, we were the very first in the world to come up with the idea of pimping the popular IKEA play kitchen with furniture foil. And with great success! To this day, the products around the play kitchen are among our absolute bestsellers. We do the entire shoot ourselves - in the meeting area in our very first coworking space, where we rent our first office.
Sometimes you have to improvise
More and more products are moving into our shop and this always requires a lot of improvisation. At the beginning, Rabea's living room is transformed into a photo studio.
the elf moves in in 2019
The time has come: we're finally getting our own photo studio, even if we still have to make do without heating and Wi-Fi. One of our first projects in the new studio is none other than the elf. We're shooting for Christmas at over 30 degrees in the middle of summer, because the little elf door and our Secret Santa letters should also inspire more and more children in Germany.
More than decal
in 2020, we launched our first product made of wood: a footrest for the IKEA highchair. Until the ideal construction is found with our joinery, there are several prototypes. More and more products made of fabric, wood and leather follow and move into the shop.
A dream comes true
2022 is the year: we're moving into our own office! From the coworking space, we're moving directly to an entire floor in creative Cologne-Ehrenfeld. Now we finally have enough space for everyone and can easily combine office and shooting. The best thing is that we can finally furnish our workspace completely ourselves and design it in the Limmaland style. It just feels great.
We celebrate as a team
It has become a nice tradition that we celebrate Limmaland's birthday together with the whole team. We celebrated our 9th birthday on the beach in Holland. And for our 10th birthday, we have already become 17 Limmalanders and are celebrating together again. Where? That's still a surprise for everyone!

Our creative ideas have conquered many hearts and helped to turn simple pieces of furniture into truly unique pieces. Of course, our path has not always been easy. But every challenge was an opportunity to grow. Thanks to our great customers and our dedicated team, we were able to overcome every hurdle and realise new, exciting projects together time and time again. We have never lost our sense of fun in the process - because only by enjoying our work can such wonderful products be created. And we look forward to everything that awaits us in the future!
