Make your own magic snow

Make your own magic snow

Let it snow - Discover how to make glittering snow from just 3 ingredients that crunches and moulds but doesn't melt.

What is magic snow?

Magic snow is our wintery version of theMagic sand. Magic sand is a type of kinetic sand made from flour and oil that can be moulded like real sand. But it doesn't leave any dirt behind. And best of all, the sand can be made beautifully colourful with a little paint. This makes it much more interesting in the mud kitchen.

Magic snow is made from cornflour and oil. This is because cornflour crunches really nicely - just like real snow! But unfortunately, real snow doesn't appear that often in most regions in Germany. And it also melts so quickly. Our magic snow, on the other hand, lasts much longer for our favourite little people and the snow fun can even start indoors.

Make your own magic snow - here's how

Almost as if by magic, the artificial snow is mixed together from just 3 ingredients. The cornflour and oil are mixed in a ratio of 8:1. So we have mixed 8 cups of cornflour with 1 cup of oil.
You can also replace the cornflour with flour. However, your magic sand won't crunch as nicely as real snow.

The ingredients for the magic snow

  • 8 cups cornflour
  • 1 cup of baby oil or vegetable oil
  • Glitter
You will also need a large bowl to mix the ingredients and, if necessary, a whisk or similar.

Step 1 - Create magic snow with just 3 ingredients

Firstly, measure out 8 cups of cornflour and 1 cup of oil of your choice and place both ingredients in a large bowl.
If you want to make more or less magic snow, simply note the ratio and adjust the amount accordingly.

Step 2 - Now it's time to mix

In the second step, mix the cornflour and oil. We first mixed the 2 ingredients roughly with a whisk and then kneaded them with our hands.

Step 3 - Glitter, glitter!

Step 3 really turns the white mixture into magic snow. Because now you add the glitter so that the magic snow shines like morning dew and makes playing even more fun for the minis.

The magic snow is ready! Even if there is no white Christmas this year, nothing stands in the way of snow angels and snowmen. This time in miniature format, but as long as the minis want.
